Doubt seeps in through every crack, every orifice, every doorway left ajar.
It seeps and it sits, heavy, like rocks in an ocean
And you try to reach the surface and gasp for air.
But the tide is rising and every time you get close to relief it is further out of reach
Sometimes it finds you ; like a desperate momentary reprieve and you gasp,
clutching at salvation, drowning in it, grasping, floundering, involuntarily consuming all in reach.
Then the tide rises and the doubt seeps in.
