5 Daily Rituals to Make You Happy

Recently I have started trying to form some daily rituals. The sense of a consistent solid rhythm is appealing and plenty of studies show if we cast our actions into daily routines we are more likely to persist with them.

Here are my top five daily rituals for well-being.

Gratitude

I truly believe gratitude is the foundation upon which we build happiness. Some of the most inspiring stories I have ever heard are of those people that have lost a lot or had very little to start with and yet they still demonstrate pure gratitude for the little they have. You don’t have to own lots of things or have the perfect job to be grateful. In fact forming the practice of gratitude for exactly what you have in any moment is an essential skill especially when we have less.

Gratitude is such a positive feeling. Try it right now, stop and think of one thing you are grateful for. Don’t just think about it wonder how it makes you feel. Remind yourself when you were last feeling gratitude for it or them. It is impossible to feel guilty, angry, sad when you have that feeling.

Every day I write down three things I am grateful for. There is evidence to show writing embeds these thoughts more firmly in your mind than just thinking about them.

What are you thankful for. Look for something everyday. The more you look the more you will find.

Excercise

Exercise is not just there to keep us physically fit. Exercise is essential for our happiness as well.

I am now working out every day. Sometimes for ten minutes sometimes twenty. Sometimes Pilates, sometimes a jog but I am doing it everyday.

Some form of regular exercise helps me feel great.

Meditation

One day I think they will prescribe meditation at the doctors. It is has been proven time and time again to be massively beneficial to our health and well-being.

Every morning I am attempting ten minutes of meditation. I say attempt as I don’t think I am very good at it. I often find my mind wandering all over the shop. Still I persist.

Meditation can be hard and take practice but it is worth it.

Journaling

I am currently completing the six minute journal. A journal that encourages you to spend three minutes in the morning and night noting down a few simple things. Like how will you make today great.

This is by far one of the most powerful tools I have found. I am asking myself who I want to be that day. Painting the picture in my head. Be it Mother Earth or fun loving Al. Having an idea of who I want to be and challenging myself to become her really makes me think about my response to the world.

You can journal about many things just taking the time to write about your day or what you want from your day can really help.
